  • When should Barwon Security service my security system?

    It is recommended that you have your hardwired security system serviced at least every 2 -3 years to change batteries and keep it running at optimum levels. If you have a wireless security system, it is preferred to have it serviced every 12 – 18 months. 

    Of course, if you have a fault or something is not quite right between those times, it is highly recommended you call for one of our technicians to assist you.

  • What is monitoring for my security system?

    Back-to-base monitoring is an affordable and essential service for everyone concerned about family and business security. Extensively trained operators are on standby 24 hours a day, ready to take action should an alarm occur at your premises.

    When an alarm does occur, be it a panic, burglary, fire or medical emergency, our control operator will promptly notify you and dispatch the nearest patrol officer, police, fire brigade or ambulance depending on the requirements. 

    Not only does the control room watch your security system for alarm conditions, they also let you know of any potential faults such as mains power or back up battery failure.

  • I am getting NBN installed; will this affect my alarm system?

    This will depend on your current system and if you are monitored “back to base”. 

    If you are monitored or considering monitoring check with us if your system is compatible with NBN. 

  • Can I control my alarm system with my smartphone?

    Yes, there are options available that allow you to remotely access your alarm system.

  • Can I view my cameras on my smartphone?

    Absolutely! All our camera installations include a connection from the recorder to your internet router to ensure smartphone connectivity. However, clients must have internet connection to allow this to happen. 

  • I bought these cameras online; will you install them for me?

    Unfortunately, we cannot as Barwon Security accept no responsibility of functionality and warranty of owner supplied systems.

  • What happens if someone turns off my power?

    Your alarm system comes with a battery backup, so your alarm will continue to run. Regarding CCTV systems, we can offer an uninterrupted power supply, so the system can continue to record even when the power is out.
